So some of you may know I have been working on my craft room. It has been a long process. I have been trying to put together a wonderful place to create and stay on a very small budget. The budget has been the thing that has made this a slow process, but as I get closer to completing my room I have realized how wonderful of a gift this truly is!
The first step was to clean the room out and repaint the walls. They are now a beautiful pressed green glass. I love it!
So far I have found a hutch for free! Yes free! There are some wonderful and generous people out there. I did receive this from a complete stranger. I placed an add on craigslist and he said if you come get it you can have it! :) {of course I would never go to a strangers house by myself, I took the Hubby with me} The hutch was originally a more formal piece of furniture with glass shelves. As it ended up it was missing the glass shelves and one piece of glass for the side. No biggie! I wanted wooden shelves in it anyway and I came up with a creative solution for the side pieces. I took some galvanized steel sheeting that they use to make heating and air conditioning ducts and cut them to size. I then used a hammer and nail and did some tin punching on it. I think it turned out wonderful. I also painted the hutch white and added some vintage glass knobs to it. I love my hutch.
I also found a wonderful set of vintage drawers from a gentleman on craigslist and again he just wanted to get rid of them! Another loved treasure for me! {this time my Dad was nice enough to go with me} I cleaned them up and replaced the top. I still need to finish painting it but it is already in my craft room. It is a great storage area and has a terrific work surface!
I reclaimed an old desk I had and got rid of the huge computer desk I was using (it took up a ton of space). The old desk is so cute and it was something I had picked up at a yard sale when my daugther was just a toddler (she is now 13).
I have added some shelving to my walls and need 2 more sets. They are the adjustable shelving, this has already come in handy.
My wonderful husband made me a fabulous table and again it needs to be painted but is already a functioning piece. I seem to have gotten impatient and started doing some scrapbooking this weekend!
Friday I had a little bit of time to kill so I went to check out a new thrift shop here in town. I had went all the way through the store and the very last thing I looked at ended up being a 12x12 paper holder. It was only $1.99! An unbelievable find! You can imagine my excitement! So for now I will leave you with these wonderful images to intrigue you! :) Happy crafting!
